Perspectives on COVID-19 in Sami communities in Norway

The aim of this across borders project is to elaborate the connection between Arctic resilience and the pandemic in Arctic and indigenous communities. The main focus is on the indigenous people living in the Arctic. The project is a collaboration across all the Arctic countries. The Norwegian study is performed by the Centre for Sami Health Research (see Project group).


Várdobáiki Sami Centre

Várdobáiki Sami Centre does work concerning language, health and Sami culture, including running a museum and a kindergarten.  The centre covers southern Troms and northern Nordland. The main purpose of the organisation is to preserve and pass on Sami language, history, culture and society in the region. In this project, they contribute with qualitative interviews with users of the Várdobáiki Sami Centre on how COVID-19 has had an impact on daily life and trust in the authorities.
