From CFD Simulations and Laboratory Tests to Collecting Real Data in the Field: SPRICE Sea Spray Collector

SPRICE Sea Spray Collector

Conducting sea spray measurements plays a key role in refining spray icing models, in particular MINCOG, which is the underlying icing model in SPRICE. In our project, we have designed and developed an efficient sea-spray collector that can carry out spray measurements on different marine structures and vessels. The collector is developed in the principle of flow cyclone separating sea spray droplets from the air carrying them and has already passed the CFD simulations. Various tests are carried out in the lab, confirming the simulation results. The collector will be placed in fish farms in the complex terrains of Northern Norway, where it will collect data in real-time autonomously. This research is being carried out and furtehr updates will be available soon.
