Are you a data steward? Do you work with research data management? Have a look!
Good management and sharing of research data are a key principle for UiT. For UiT, it is strategically important that those who manage research data have a common understanding of best practice of research data management and the FAIR principles and that the principles are reflected in their daily work. A data steward network will be of help to establish this.
A data steward is a person who ensures that data in a research group, at an institute, in a lab etc, is collected and taken care of in the best possible way. This can be qualitative data or quantitative data. A data stewards can also manage physical samples, collections or archives.
In addition to data stewards, there are data curators at the University Library (UB). These work for example with archiving research data, and, if the data allows it, make it openly available.
UiT will now establish a so-called "data steward network", coordinated by UB. The goal is to create a forum for data stewards, data curators and other data management (support) staff. The network will ensure that persons working with data management can meet and discuss specific issues, share experiences, and help each other solving common challenges.

A kick-off seminar will be organized on 3 May (9-12). If you are unable to attend on 3 May, you are welcome to fill in the form anyway, so that we can contact you later. The seminar can be streamed if needed. Deadline for registration for the kick-off seminar: 26 April.
The main theme of the kick-off seminar on 3 May will be the FAIR principles and how to realize these at UiT.
