Diversity in Norwegian academia: on internationalisation, representation, and racism

Welcome to a seminar with Ronald Mayora Synnes addressing the situation of ethnic minorities at Norwegian universities.

The following questions will be discussed: What does ethnic diversity in Norwegian academia consist of? To what extent are ethnic minority groups represented at Norwegian universities, and what positions do these researchers have in Norwegian academia? What barriers do ethnic minorities experience in the sector?

Ronald Mayora Synnes is a sociologist and Associate Professor at the Department of Sociology and Social Work at the University of Agder. He is a member of the Committee for gender equity and diversity in research (Kif-committee), a member of the knowledge centre Kilden gender research (Research council of Norway) and a board member of the University of Agder.

The seminar is organised by the Initiative the Art of Being Anti-Racist and OMOD - Centre for Social Justice.

The presentation by Ronald Mayora Synnes will be in Norwegian, but the discussion will be held in English. Welcome!
