Search in NVA
The Norwegian Research Information Repository (NVA) is a national service for registering and making research available. In NVA you can find master thesis, doctoral thesis, publications and research projects from UiT as well as other universities and research institutions.
You can search in three ways in NVA:
- Simple search
- Filter search
- Advanced search
Simple searches can be combined with filter searches for more precise searches.

How to find publications from UiT in NVA
In order to find publications from UiT you can carry out a simple search and then filter by institution.
Go to nva.sikt.no and click on «Search»
It is not necessary to type in search terms.
Choose «UiT The Arctic University of Norway» as institution
Apply additional filters by clicking on the desired category
How to find master thesis from a specific faculty or department
To find master theses linked to a specific unit, e.g. a faculty or department, you need to use advanced search.
In the example we will show how you can search for master thesis that are made openly available by the Department of Social Education (“Institutt for vernepleie” in Norwegian) at UiT.
Go to nva.sikt.no and click on «Go to advanced result search»
Click on «Select category»
Choose «Master thesis» and confirm by clicking «Use»
Select «UiT» as institution
The options come up as you type.
After that, click on «Select unit»
Choose the second option, «Universitetet i Tromsø – Norges arktiske universitet»
Do not choose «Avdeling vernepleie» here. This option is based on other data from Cristin and does not refer to the unit publications are linked to in NVA.
Then, select «Det helsevitenskapelige fakultet / Faculty of Health Sciences»
Choose «Institutt for vernepleie / Department of Social Education» and click on «Select»
You will now see all master theses in NVA that are linked to UiT’s Department of Social Education.
