The UiT UiT Writing Centre offers free writing guidance to all students at all UiT campuses. We provide guidance in academic writing in both Norwegian and English, for students from the 1st semester up to the master's level. Feel free to drop by during opening hours if you have questions or would like to discuss a writing project you are working on or about to start.

In addition to individual writing guidance, we also offer writing workshops on topics such as: Argumentation, Structure, Development of project outlines, Literature review, and Ethical use of sources. If you would like a tailor-made course for your student group, please contact the project manager of the Writing Centre.

The UiT Writing Centre is not a proofreading service, but rather a resource where we, through dialogue, identify strengths and potential for development in students' academic writing.

How to book an appointment

You can drop by or arrange to meet us by booking an appointment. Choose the Guidance option. Here you can choose between physical and digital guidance, in Norwegian or English.
In the comment field, please tell us about:

  • Your field of study and year
  • What you need help with
  • Your assignment text

Contact us well in advance of your submission deadline, preferably by email at skrivesenter@uit.no. We are happy to participate in brainstorming and provide feedback on structure, discussion, sources, and language (but not proofreading). Allow plenty of time to work on your assignment after you have received feedback from us.

The Writing Centre focuses on oral guidance - either over Teams or face-to-face - so that we can have an open and friendly dialogue with you as a student.

We look forward to meeting you and getting to know your ideas and writing work. Welcome!
