Job description

Anett is working as a researcher in the SECVIR project. She is teaching Pharmacology to Master students in Biomedicine, Odotology students and Medical students, as well as Veterinary microbiology to Pharmacology students, in addition to supervising both bachelor-, master- and PhD-students. Her main research interests are infection biology and host-microbial interactions.

    Research interests

    In the SECVIR project we are investigating the ability of liver endothelial cells to take up and eliminate virus from the blood. The sinusoidal endothelium in liver has evolved into a specialized scavenger endothelium with important functions in host defence, removing large amounts of connective tissue molecules, lipids, other potential dangerous molecules like possibly virus, from the blood. Our main goal is to investigate if different types of virus is eliminated via the liver by these specialized LSEC and hereby increase our understanding of what role these cells play in the body's antiviral defence.

    This work is a very exciting extension of my main research interest which is cellular mechanisms during infectious diseases, including zoonoses. During my Post Doc my main focus was cell biology and immunology in Arctic species, developing infection models in primary cell cultures isolated from wild animals. I am also very interested in the combined effects of climate- and environmental change on health and immune competence.
