Course catalogues for incoming exchange students are updated for each semester - 15 September for students commencing in the spring semester (January - July) and 15 March for students commencing in the autumn semester (August - December).
Future students (non-nominated students): please consult the course catalogues from previous semesters until the new ones are published. There are usually only minor changes in the course offer each semester.

  • Accessing your timetable: Timetable is published after your arrival to Norway. Information about how to access the Timetable and change courses will be sent to you after the admission process is finalized in May (for commencement in the autumn semester) or December (for commencement in the spring semester). The selection of course modules is the most important step in your application because it determines whether you are going to receive your admission offer in time or not. Student who usually ignore or neglect the information in this section, get their application delayed. This is why we strongly urge you to carefully read the information in this section.

Please keep these criteria in mind when choosing your course modules:

  • Course selection: you must choose most of your courses from the specific Department at UiT that has an agreement with your home university and within the subject field of your current degree programme at your home university. You can also choose courses from other departments if you meet the admission requirements for these course modules. NOTE: Students who select modules from more than one academic school/department and various subject fields are more likely to experience timetable clashes and delay in the assessment of their application.
  • Selecting course modules from different campuses: it is NOT possible to mix course modules from different campuses per semester because the campuses are located in different cities.
  • Admission requirements: each course module has admission requirements, also known as prerequisites. You MUST meet the admission requirements when choosing them. Note: UiT cannot be held responisble for not being accepted to courses if you do not meet the admission requirements.
  • How many modules you can choose? The minimum credit load per semester is 30 ECTS. We encourage you to choose 50 - 70 ECTS during your application to increase your chance of being admitted to at least 30 ECTS modules that are not in conflict in the Timetable.
  • Course levels: each module starts with 3 abbreviation letters (for example, KJE for chemistry, BIO for biology, PSY for psychology) and 4 numerical digits in the catalogues. The modules with the numerical digits 1000 - 2000 are for bachelor's degree students. The modules with the numerical digits 3000 - 4000 are for master's students - it means you must have completed your bachelor's degree or 180 ECTS at your home university to be able to choose these modules.

Course modules are listed twice a year in the Course Catalogue for incoming exchange students:

  • Course modules taught in the autumn semester: 15 March
  • Course modules taught in the spring semester: 15 September

There are TWO course catalogues available for incoming exchange students:

NOTE! Make sure you have chosen the correct semester (autumn/spring) and campus (Alta, Harstad, Narvik or Tromsø) after you have opened the course catalogue.
