About us – The Norwegian College of Fishery Science

About The Norwegian College of Fishery Science (NCFS)

The Norwegian College of Fishery Science is the professional unit at UiT – the Arctic University of Norway which is responsible for research and education directed at both the Norwegian and the international fishery and aquaculture industry. The NCFS was founded in 1972 and is currently the leading competence institution for fishery and aquaculture in Norway.

The NCFS has around 100 employees, including researchers and technicians/administrative staff, and covers a broad spectrum of marine research. We also coordinate one of the university’s Centers for Research-based Innovation (SFI), MabCent, which consists of Marbio and Marbank.

The study programs offered at the NCFS include bachelor’s and master’s studies in Fishery and Aquaculture Science, Biotechnology, Aquamedicine and International Fisheries Management.
