Job description
PhD research entitled "Identification of key determinants for Staphylococcus aureus throat colonization -: a transcriptomic approach"
- This Ph.D. project is all about “ Exploring Bacterial Transcriptomics ” in order to assess host-microbe interaction and present lead candidates for the targeted intervention of Staphylococcus aureus throat colonization and thereby prevent infection.
- Approach includes in vitro, ex vivo and bacterial co-culture establishment of the tonsillar cell line, and transcriptomics methodology including RNA sequencing (RNA-Seq) and qRT-PCR.
- Investigating transcriptomics responses of Staphylococcus aureus during exposure to human Thp-1 macrophages and host factors
- Metatranscriptomics will be performed directly on tonsillar tissue to investigate the in vivo expression system
- The transcriptome reflects the genes that are actively expressed at any given moment. This would enable us to identify bacterial determinants for S. aureus throat colonization in vitro and in vivo.
- Eventually, gaining an understanding of S. aureus adaptation and response to the host during colonization and infection.
