Arctic Frontiers Inspiration Day presentation

On Arctic Frontiers Inspiration Day 24th November 2021 Adele presented a talk named The tools to understanding Earths past and future climate” to local high school students as part of their science project preparation with Arctic Frontiers.

In the talk, Adele presented about future climate change projections and how they compare and differ to past climate variability. Adele used this to explain how we can use knowledge about past climates to better understand the impact and consequences climate variability have/could have on our environments. Included in the presentation was explaining different climate drivers and how they are connected, such as ocean temperature and circulation, sea ice, freshwater circulation, and the atmosphere. In addition, Adele spoke about various records (sediments cores, corals, speleothems etc.) of past climate variability and methods researchers use to study them, such as geochemistry and micropaleontological (fossil flora and fauna) assemblages.
