News in 2025
- EISCAT experiment with a VHF rader was performed to investigate PMWE(Polar Mesospheric Winter Echoes) from 17 November to 20 November.
-
Nicolas Lambolez, student in aeronautical engineering at Ecole Nationale Supérieure de Mécanique et d’Aérotechnique, Poitiers Futuroscope, France made a 3-month internship working in our project with detectore data from the MXD2 campaign (1 July – 30 September 2025).
-
Yoshihiro Yokoyama presented the MXD2 campaign and preliminary analysis results of data measured with the UiT instrument at the 2nd Workshop - Atmospheric Impacts of Spacecraft Launch and Re-entry, 23 - 25 September 2025, Amsterdam.
-
Ingrid Mann presented the MXD2 campaign at the Norwegian Romforskningsdag event organized by the Norwegian Space Agency in Oslo 24 September 2025. The presentation dealt with the connection between CODIA research and the ESA Prodex project.
-
Ion line workshop: an online discussion was made 31 July 2025 with collaborators at NIPR Tokyo and ISEE Nagoya on planning collaborative observations on the incoherent scatter ion line in the D-region ionosphere. The goal is to make observations that help to investigate the role of the dust component in the formation of the ionline. The plan is affected by the delay of EISCAT_3D, but observations with EISCAT VHF are planned for November 2025.
-
First measurements with MXD2 collected samples 10 July 2025: project participants from UiT travelled to Trondheim to conduct an initial analysis together with an expert from the Norwegian Centre for Transmission Electron Microscopy (NORTEM) at NTNU Trondheim.
-
On 9 July 2025 the MESS dust collector from the MXD2 payload was inspected at the laboratory at UiT. The collector worked as planned and sample collectors were retrieved without damage.
- On 8 July 2025, the EISCAT VHF campaign in support of the MXD2 campaign was terminated earlier than planned due to a technical problem with the radar. The VHF measured with radar code MANDA since 30 June daily during the launch window. This is a joint Norwegian - Swedisch radar observations program.
-
The MXD-2 rocket was launched at 8:00 AM local time (6:00 AM UT) on July 5th.
-
Nicolas Lambolez from ISAE-ENSMA joined the project for a three-month internship. Nicolas works on analyzing SPID data from the MXD-2 campaign.
-
Information about the rocket launch has been released from Andøya Space on June 23rd: the launch window is between June 30 th and July 14th, from 7:30 AM to 1:45 PM local time. For more information, please see here.
