EPINOR - the National Research School in Epidemiology 2026–2034
We aim to build competence, networks and data-driven insights for future health research in Norway.
The primary objective of EPINOR is to strengthen the quality, relevance and societal impact of epidemiological research in Norway.
We will
- Provide a nationally unified learning environment and academic collaboration
- Build advanced methodological competence in modern epidemiology, including causal inference, AI and registry‑based research, alongside transferable skills such as leadership, innovation and communication
- Strengthen use of Norwegian registries, cohorts and biobanks
- Promote cross‑sector and international collaboration through engagement with public and private stakeholders, expert involvement and student mobility
Our planned impact
- Enhance quality and relevance of PhD training in epidemiology (advanced methodological and transferable skills)
- Real-life case challenges preparing PhD candidates for careers across sectors
- Strengthen future use of Norwegian health data. •Strengthen national collaboration across universities, other academia, health and welfare sector
- Improve stakeholder engagement and strengthen translation from research to policy and practice
- Increase societal impact through more relevant, collaborative, and evidence-based health research
EPINOR received funding support from the Research Council of Norway in the EVALMEDHELSE call in 2025 for the period 2026-2034.
