GEOSUMAT Participation at the 10th International Conference on MECHANICS AND MATERIALS IN DESIGN

GEOSUMAT representatives from Cracow University of Technology presented two research results at the 10th Interantional Conference on MECHANICS AND MATERIALS IN DESIGN (M2D2024) which was held in Nagoya, Japan from 1-5 September, 2024.

M2D2024 is the tenth edition of the international conference in the esteemed series "Mechanics and Materials in Design" (M2D), coordinated by the Governing Scientific Committee of Mechanics and Materials in Design. This series is dedicated to the latest advancements in mechanics and materials and their applications in engineering design.

The M2D conference series was initiated in June 1990 at the University of Toronto, with subsequent iterations held in Porto (Portugal), Nottingham (UK), Gifu (Japan), Bologna (Italy), Funchal (Madeira), the Azores and Albufeira (Portugal).

The conference encompasses topics including theoretical frameworks, experimental research, and practical applications of M2D in fields such as construction, aerospace, automotive, and bioengineering. Particular emphasis is placed on, among others, composite and advanced materials, computational, experimental, fatigue and fracture mechanics, as well as nanotechnology, nanomaterials, tribology, surface engineering, mechanical design, prototyping, biomechanics, structures, energy, and thermo-fluid systems.

At the conferecne, GEOSUMAT  representatives from the Cracow University of Technology, Patrycja Bazan, PhD, Eng., and Kinga Setlak, MSc, Eng., had the pleasure to present the results of the research conducted as part of the GEOSUMAT project.

The first research result on disposal of refuse derived fuel of low quality and calorific value in geopolymer materices was presented by Patrycja Bazan, PhD, Eng.

The second resarch result was presented by Kinga Setlak, MSc, Eng on the topic use of locally sourced wate materials as alkali activated bindrs based on diatomite dust.

M2D 2024 serves as an exemplary forum for participants to exchange expertise and present recent advancements in advanced materials and mechanics within engineering systems and life sciences. The conference promotes research that integrates mechanics and materials in the design process and facilitates international collaboration and the exchange of ideas among delegates.
