Prof. Robert Černý is the head of the Department of Materials Engineering, Faculty of Civil Engineering, Czech Technical University in Prague with a wide portfolio of papers published in high-ranked journals in the field of building materials (more than 260 papers, h-index: 35, more than 3.300 citations excluded self-citations). He focuses on variety of material science topics, e.g., transport phenomena in porous
materials, new advanced materials, renovation materials for cultural heritage, materials for the circular economy, utilization of waste within the design of building materials, etc. Prof. Černý was the principal investigator or co-investigator of numerous national basic and applied research projects (including the prestigious Excellence project) focused on materials science in civil engineering supported by the Czech
Science Foundation, Technology Agency of the Czech Republic, Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Czech Republic, Ministry of Culture of the Czech Republic, Ministry of Education Youth and Sports, as well as he
participated in European and international bilateral projects. He has solved the problematics of alkaliactivated materials / geopolymers in several projects dealing with, e.g., alkali activation of metakaolin, ceramic powder, or slag. Within GEOSUMAT, he will offer valuable experiences, mentoring, and recommendations in the field of geopolymers design & optimization.
