Partners

About: The UiT team has a good foundation to develop new materials for the construction industry. The facility for test performance and skilled operators are available for the GEOSUMAT project. The research group is focused on building materials, exclusively concrete, is eager to prepare and introduce to the market new sustainable materials produced from at least 50% of waste.  

Roles: 
Project coordinator, analysis of local industrial waste resources, evaluation of secondary raw materials selected for GP production, geopolymer mix design with dispersed fiber reinforcement, performance of accelerated durability testing in laboratory and performance of long-term durability testing - exposure site in the Arctic region. Leader for WP 6. Project Management, Coordination and Dissemination. Participation in WPs 1, 3 and 4.

Gerosion

About:  Within Gerosion there are several projects completed and ongoing regarding circular economy materials, connected to the utilization of the waste / raw materials as well as fundamental materials science research connected to agglomeration: AlSiment - development of a cement free environmentally friendly inorganic binder using Icelandic waste materials.  

Roles: 
Project partner: developing carbon neutral high-performance material, integrating PET waste material, basalt fines as a source material, support for consortium partners as a testing facility, including prototype solution, supporting environmental analysis. Leader for WP 2. Synthesis and mixing process. Participation in WPs 1, 3, 4, 5 and 6

Cracow University of Technology

About:
The research team will join the competencies in two disciplines, civil engineering and material science. The research team has a strong track record of achievements in the field of materials development for special applications, incl. Sustainable materials development for civil engineering applications

Role: 
Project partner: material design and investments in their properties, incl. Raw materials selected, research on additives, materials tests in laboratory, prototype design and testing it in relevant conditions. The university will be actively involved in the prototype production and technology modification. Leader for WP 5. Environmental analysis. Participation in WPs 1, 2, 3, 4, and 6.

GORTECH

About:
Górtech is a company that has been mining diatomite for more than 40 years. It has its own mine in the Podkarpackie province and is currently the only diatomite rock mine operating in Poland. The company also processes extracted rock to produce sorbents for petroleum substances. The company is also actively involved in environmental protection, including the innovative solution for the mining industry and involving in local pro-ecological undertakings related to mining waste management.

Role: 
Project partner: raw materials investigation, support for consortium partners as a testing facility, including prototype solution, supporting environmental analysis. Participation in WPs 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6.

Babeș-Bolyai University

About:
UBB is an international university. The university is recognized at the European level by the exceptional standards of education and research and by performance. The UBB team has a large experience in development and characterization of new composites based on fly ash or glass filler / ceramic filler / glass fibers / carbon glass fibers / natural glass fibers.

Role:
Project partner: characterization of waste materials, incl. Particle size distribution, grinding. IR, X-Ray, contact angle, optical microscopy, SEM, degradation, water sorption, solubility, density, design, synthesis and characterization of geopolymer composites, incl. Mechanical properties, degradation, water sorption, solubility, and thermal conductivity. Leader for WP 1. Selection and preparation of raw materials. Participation in WPs 2, 3, 5 and 6

Czech Technical University in Prague

About: 
The Czech Technical University, Department of Materials Engineering and Chemistry, has been working in the field of design and comprehensive material characterization of construction materials for the last 20 years. The team has already proven its specific research competencies and the ability to guide interdisciplinary scientific large-scale projects by a successful solution of basic / applied research projects and publishing of research results in high-ranked international journals.
Role: 
Project partner: design and characterization of waste-based geopolymers for industrial use, building a utility model. Leader for WP 3. Mechanical properties and durability - exposure to harsh conditions. Participation in WPs 1, 2, 4, 5 and 6.

CHEMSTR - ŠAFAŘÍK company

About:  In 1991, CHEMSTR - ŠAFAŘÍK company started the distribution of chemical and technical products to the Czech market. The company's activities were extended in 2008 with the introduction of the production of biodegradable products under the CHEMSTR® brand. In 2011, the portfolio of company activities expanded thanks to the establishment of a renovation and development division.


Role: 
Project partner: optimization of geopolymers in coordination with CTU in Prague and practical application, supporting the development of the exploitation plan. Leader for WP 4. Laboratory prototypes, process development. Participation in WPs 3, 5 and 6.

ReforceTech AS

About: 
The company has developed, patented, and commercialized multiple reinforcement products for concrete applications achieving certification in accordance with European protocols. ReforceTech has developed a unique approach to civil engineering of concrete applications such that the end result is lower cost, lower carbon, and faster project execution which can be applied for geopolymer applications.
Role:
Project partner: Supplier and Developer of Mineral Based Reinforcement systems with extensive and proven applications of reinforcement in concrete. Participation in WPs 1, 3, 4 and 6.
