Successful Trial Production of Geopolymer Paste Using ELKEM MICROSILICA® 971

The GEOSUMAT team at Campus Narvik, UiT, has successfully completed the first trial production of geopolymer paste using ELKEM MICROSILICA® 971, generously provided by Elkem (Norway). The material was tested for alternative waterglass production, yielding promising results with compressive strengths of up to 66.61 MPa after 24 hours of curing at room temperature.

The team is now scaling up the production of alternative waterglass in preparation for hybrid reinforced concrete production tests. These tests will incorporate basalt fibres supplied by ReforceTech.
