Sahel par lui-même
L'initiative Sahel par lui-même cherche à développer des dialogues plus inclusifs avec et au sein des communautés sahéliennes.
Sahel par lui-même est une initiative de recherche-action qui vise, de manière très concrète, à expérimenter des outils visuels pour engager les populations locales dans des dialogues sur leurs situations de vie et leur avenir, en formant des « cinéastes communautaires ».
Impliquant des personnes dont la vie est souvent caractérisée par la violence, la "radicalisation", la migration et la pauvreté, les récits visuels se concentreront sur les problèmes qui définissent la vie des gens. Cet objectif sera atteint par ce que nous appelons la méthodologie «Sahel par lui même»: organiser des cours de formation au cinéma pour former des individus sélectionnés par leurs communautés à réaliser des films sur leur vie individuelle et / ou communautaire. Le cinéma entend être un espace créatif de réflexion et de narration.
"Is it a boy or is it a girl?" Posed at the first moment of life this question expresses, embeds, and underlined the common dispostions toward the path of life for the newborn. It signals the order and the terms of wich gender established itself at the moment of birth. Life is gendered. And so it is in every corner of the world.
In this learningtool/page are a series of documentary films who portray how women and men live their lives in a specific part of the world, The Far North Region in Cameroon available. These films which in various ways portrays lived lives where the common issue might be seen as the cultural expectations to women and mens behaviour are touched upon. The films raises a series of question on the importance of traditions, religion, economy, globalisation and so on.
SAHEL PAR LUI MEME INITIATIVE IN MAROUA, FAR NORTH CAMEROON
The films presented here are made by Cameroonian students, either as a part of their master or phd training, or by trained Cameroonian Visual Anthropologists teaching filmmaking in communities on topic which interests those involved.
To each film have we developed a set of questions that can be used to trigger discussions and debate in communities and classrom, for different kind of audiences and steakholders.
