Transformative Pedagogies – Doing Democracy in Academia is hosted by the Center for Women`s and Gender Research at UiT, The Arctic University of Norway. It aims to explore classroom practices to understand how voices of all backgrounds are validated in learning situations and create the foundation for the future. Our academic field is feminist pedagogy which facilitates the exploration of power relations in academia. Among others, we explore the course curriculums, the diversity of writers and the content of course reading lists, their discussion in the teaching situation, and verbal and non-verbal modes of communication in the classroom. The project also explores how the abovementioned aspects influence students` learning experiences.
