SOK-3600 Advanced Environmental and Resource Economics - 10 ECTS
Objectives of the course
After completing the course the candidate should have achieved the following learning outcomes:
Knowledge
The candidate shall
- have a deep understanding of environmental and resource economic concepts
- understand population dynamic models; single and multispecies
- understand and have solid knowledge of the dynamics and realism in known fisheries and aquaculture models
- know of marine ecosystem services and how these are valued economically
- have knowledge of cost-benefit analysis and how it is applied
Skills
The candidate shall
- be able to apply bioeconomic models on different known issues in an adequate way
- be able to assess current management challenges by applying models for how management can impact the development of marine resources and the utilisation of them
- be able to apply different methods for assessing the values of ecosystem services
- be able to apply cost-benefit analysis
General competence
The candidate shall
- be able to apply and develop bioeconomic models in concrete fishery and aquaculture settings, and know what information is necessary for this
- be able to identify known reference points for different management measures and make realistic plans for reaching management goals
- be able to include valuation of ecosystem services in cost-benefit analysis
