Information for Master's Students

The contract is important - it documents your rights and responsibilites regarding the supervision and master's thesis work.

The contract should be signed by both you and your supervisor. We kindly ask you to submit the signed contract to your supervisor during the first year of study. The supervisor and the student must retain signed copies of the contract. Link to the contract will be announced (PDF).

If you are unsure about what your project for the Master's Thesis should be, you can look at the other theses submitted by alumni from the Peace and Conflict Transformation programme in UiTs open research archive. 

Students admitted to a master's programme at the Centre for Peace Studies can make use of the following study rooms:

• Nedre Lysthus - lower level
• Two study/reading rooms
• Computer room with four computers and a copying machine/printer
• CPS Library
• Small kitchen/break room
• Lockers - in the hallway and study/reading rooms

You have access to Nedre Lysthus on your student card after working hours. If you don't have access, please contact UiT Info Centre (Tromsø).

The master's thesis should be submitted as a PDF file via Munin and WISEflow.

The submission deadlines are May 15 for the spring semester and November 1 for the autumn semester. The thesis must be submitted by 2 pm/14:00.

More information regarding submitting the thesis:

• Information needed to submit in Munin: Supervisor's name and e-mail address, abstract (around 250 words), keywords
• Make sure to format the thesis with two-sided printing in mind. Please leave a blank page after the cover Page 1: Cover, Page 2: blank. Page 3-: The rest of the content. The first chapter should start on odd pages. Blank pages may have to be added to achieve this.
• It is the student's own responsibility to make sure that the PDF file is correct and complete upon submission.
• Please name the PDF file "thesis.pdf", because the name of the file will be visible to the public
• Once you have submitted the thesis, you will get a confirmation e-mail
• Theses that are approved will be published in Munin. You can choose to not have your thesis published, for example if it contains sensitive information.

Master's students have access to copying machines outside of the study rooms. More information on this here.
