The Administrative Unit for Population-Based Health Studies is a joint entity for the management of the four major population-based health studies at the Department of Community Medicine:

- The Tromsø Study
- The Norwegian Women and Cancer Study
- SAMINOR
- Fit Futures

The main task is the management of collected materials in the population-based health studies, including both data and biological materials. The purpose of a joint management unit is to coordinate tasks and routines around the management, which in the long term will provide economies of scale and make the tasks more efficient. With joint organization, systems, and procedures, the management of the population-based health studies will become less vulnerable.

We are responsible for tasks related to:

- Reception and guidance of applications for data and biological material
- Case processing and project administration
- Storage of data and biological material
- Distribution and linkages
- Organizational development
- Dissemination
- Finance

The Administrative Unit for Population-Based Health Studies is a newly established core facility at the Department of Community Medicine serving the Faculty of Health Sciences.
