Hydrogen PEM fuel cell system to retrofit vessels in the maritime transport industry (HyEkoTank)
HyEkoTank targets the development of a cost-effective and scalable solution for retrofitting large ships with MW-scale PEMFC power generators and hydrogen fuel storage, accelerating climate neutrality of waterborne transport and increasing the competitiveness of the European green shipping sector.
The pilot case will retrofit a 2.4 MW fuel cell system and a swappable, 350 bar, 4000kg hydrogen storage onto the Bitumen carrier tanker BitFlower to achieve a system maturity of TRL 8. The technology will be suitable to retrofit a wide range of sea-going and inland waterway
