Inaugural PhD/Master Summer School on Sustainable Logistics Successfully Held at UiT—The Arctic University of Norway

The inaugural PhD/Master Summer School on Sustainable Logistics was successfully held at UiT—The Arctic University of Norway from September 22 to 27, 2024. Focusing on the green transition of the logistics sector through cutting-edge technologies and methods, the summer school featured intensive lectures discussing the impact of Industry 5.0, artificial intelligence, optimization and simulation, smart manufacturing, big data, and truck electrification on sustainable logistics. Renowned professors and experts shared insights on how these advancements can drive environmental sustainability in logistics. Participants also worked collaboratively on an industry challenge, developing solutions for locating charging stations to facilitate electric truck adoption in northern Norway.

The summer school was a joint event organized by UiT—The Arctic University of Norway and Southwest Jiaotong University, supported by the Utforsk Programme from the Norwegian Directorate for Higher Education and Skills (HK-dir). Over 20 students from both universities participated in the program. The event not only enhanced academic knowledge but also fostered cross-cultural understanding. Social events during the week helped students better understand the cultural differences between the two countries. The second PhD/Master Summer School on Sustainable Logistics is scheduled to be held at Southwest Jiaotong University in 2025.
