Workshop on Future Smart and Sustainable Logistics

The workshop focuses on the impact of AI and Truck Electrification on smart and sustainable logistics.

On September 26, 2024, UiT—The Arctic University of Norway hosted a workshop on Future Smart and Sustainable Logistics, bringing together academics, industry experts, and students to discuss the latest advancements and challenges in the field.

The event began with an introduction by Dr. Hao Yu and a welcome address from the Dean, Prof. Bjørn R. Sørensen. The workshop featured several keynote presentations covering a range of topics:

  • Generative AI for Research and Education by Marko Lukic, exploring the role of artificial intelligence in advancing research methodologies and educational practices.
  • Generalized Travelling Salesman Problem with Drone and Bicycle by Dr. Erfan Babaee Tirkolaee from Istinye University, discussing innovative solutions for urban logistics using drones and bicycles.
  • History and Current Trends in Transport Electrification by Dr. Bjarte Hoff, providing insights into the evolution and future prospects of electric transportation.
  • Truck Electrification: How Can the Charging Infrastructure Network be Developed? by Dr. Hao Yu, addressing the challenges of establishing charging networks for electric trucks.
  • Variation of Truck Emission by Trip Purposes by Zhu Yao, PhD candidate at Southwest Jiaotong University, analyzing how different trip purposes impact emissions.
  • Nonlinear Impacts of Urban Built Environment on Freight Emissions by Tao Peng, PhD candidate at Southwest Jiaotong University, examining the influence of urban planning on freight-related environmental impacts.

The workshop facilitated meaningful discussions on integrating advanced technologies with sustainable practices in logistics. Participants had the opportunity to network, exchange ideas, and explore collaborative opportunities aimed at addressing pressing challenges in smart and sustainable logistics.
