🔬 Incoming traineeship students: how to apply for internship, research or thesis project

Step 1: Nomination from your home institution

You must be nominated before applying. Nominations must be submitted electronically by your home institution or the relevant programme coordinator at UiT through the Partner Portal.

Nomination deadlines:

• 15 October for traineeships starting in the spring semester (January - June).
• 15 April for traineeships starting in the autumn semester (August - December).

Step 2: Check your eligibility

Before applying, make sure you meet the following requirements:

• Be enrolled in a degree programme at your home institution.
• Meet the language requirements of the host department (normally B2-C1 level English proficiency according to the CEFR scale).
• Meet the eligibility requirements of your scholarship or mobility programme.
• Be physically present and actively participate in the traineeship at UiT.
• If you are applying as a recent graduate, you must have been selected during your final year of studies and complete the traineeship within one year of graduation.

Step 3: Prepare your application documents

Before logging in to Søknadsweb, make sure you have the following documents ready for upload:

• ✅ A completed and signed Learning Agreement for Traineeships.
• 🆔 A copy of your passport (or national ID card for EU/EEA citizens).
• 📄 Curriculum Vitae (CV).
• 📑 Your latest Transcript of Records.
• 📥 Download the Learning Agreement Form

Step 4: Apply in Application Web (Søknadsweb)

2️⃣ Select institution

Select UiT The Arctic University of Norway.

3️⃣ Request a password

Click “Send me a new password”
Use the same email address that was used for your nomination.

4️⃣ Log in

Log in using your email address and password.
Click “Register new international applicant”.

5️⃣ Complete your profile

• Address line 1: Street name and number.
• Address line 2: Leave blank.
• Postal code and city: e.g. 3999 - Paris.
• P.O. boxes are not accepted.
• Mobile number: Required.
• Language: Select English.

6️⃣ Choose an application alternative

Select the subject area of your traineeship.

The deadline for your chosen subject area is shown next to it in Søknadsweb.

7️⃣Upload all required documents and submit your application.

Step 5: Apply for housing

Step 6: Arrange insurance

UiT does not provide insurance, so you must arrange your own coverage before arriving in Norway.

• Health insurance for medical expenses.
• Accident and liability insurance.
• Travel insurance including emergency repatriation.
