We are excited to invite you to the PhD Day at the library, which is designed exclusively for all UiT doctoral candidates. This event provides opportunities for enhancing your academic and practical skills in conducting high-level research. You will have the opportunity to listen to a keynote and participate in a workshop given by Andrea Gasparini from UiO University library, on the responsible integration of artificial intelligence in research work. Besides, you will learn about University Library’s services and meet experts from the library’s research support team.

Program:

09:00 - 09:15 Welcome to the library, information about the PhD Day

09:15 - 10:00 Keynote: Can AI assist your research? Andrea Gasparini, UiO University Library

Tools that use AI to support research and education are nowadays becoming part of services in nearly all universities. However, what data they use and how the software analyzes and creates information is kept as a business secret. For research fellows, navigating this complex landscape requires new skills. How to understand and address ethical perspectives when using AI includes not only research integrity, legal aspects, and sustainability, but also following requirements from universities and even journals. In this presentation, we will look into several of these aspects.

10:15 - 12:00 Workshop: "How to navigate in the AI jungle?" Andrea Gasparini, UiO University Library.

The second part is practical, and will consist of:

  • Test relevant applications (keenious, chatgpt)
  • Reflect about possibilities and pitfalls using dilemmas

12:00 - 13:00 FREE LUNCH (registration for lunch is now closed)

13:15 - 15:00 Posters and info stations at the library. Meet the University Library research support team and ask all your questions. You will meet:
