Collaboration on internship in higher education

Research

The project is organized with a basis in the principles and theories of Scholarship of Teaching and Learning, which involves a scientific approach to teaching practice. This is conducted by collecting data during the project, structuring, analyzing and discussing it, and then disseminating the findings both internally and as scientific publications.

The project is based on the principles and theories of Scholarship of Teaching and Learning, which involves a scientific approach to teaching practice.

In this project, we will investigate the process of quality development of internships. The main actors in the project - students, internship partners, and academic staff - will be interviewed at the start, during and at the end of the project period. The intention is to map expectations for the internship, as well as experiences gained along the way. We will also utilize data from course evaluations, to supplement the collected data mentioned above.

We are conducting a literature review of existing research on internships in education without a specific professional affiliation. The review will give us an overview of existing knowledge, from which the project will build further upon.

As a part of the research and documentation processes, we will present our findings and results for internal stakeholders and through scientific publications.

The research part of the project has the following aims:

  • To map expectations from those involved in the internships, as well as how internships are facilitated both in the internship course and on the internship partners’ site.
  • To initiate a dialogue between companies and students about the various measures believed to be of importance for achieving the learning outcomes.
  • To conduct a literature review that can be used as an important knowledge base for further developing processes in the project
  • To structure, analyze and discuss data for dissemination, both for project participants and for publication
