Recruitment of Employees

6. Decision

A two-step process applies regarding employment in the civil service: nomination and decision. The recommending authority, which is the direct manager associated with the position, gives their nomination to the appointing authority regarding who should be appointed to the position. Go to stage 5 - Nomination for the checklist on what a nomination should contain.

Appointment decision

UiT employs people in two position categories:

  • teaching, research and education positions
  • technical/administrative positions (includes all librarian positions)

For teaching, research and education positions, the appointing authority is an appointments committee established at each individual faculty, alternatively the faculty board itself.

For technical/administrative positions, the appointing authority is a joint Appointments Council for UiT as a whole.

The committees/council have decision meetings on Tuesday every two weeks, according to the scheduled meeting plan in the meeting portal. Notices of meetings including case documents must be available to the appointing authority six days before the decision meetings. The Recruitment Service writes the case documents, ensures that questions/objections are answered as soon as possible and follows up on decisions.
