2. Announcement

If you have not conducted a needs analysis, we recommend going to stage 1 - Before Announcement. The needs analysis forms the basis for the announcement text and increases the chance of reaching the right candidates.

Below are announcement checklists for announcement, that are adapted to position category and role.

Units may be organised different internally, and tasks may be delegated to roles and functions other than those mentioned here.

Teaching and Researching Positions

What is your role in the process?

To begin the process of announcing a position, please send the order form to the Recruitment Services via TopDesk or Elements. Use the checklist below to help complete the order form. If you have any questions or need assistance with anything, please contact the Recruitment Services. Your case officer at the Recruitment Services receives the order and creates a draft of the announcement text based on your text and the Recruitment Services’ templates. You will receive the announcement text for review before it is sent to the Appointment Board (TU) for approval.

Describe any additional documentation requirements for applications, such as:

  • motivation letter/reflection on own results and competence
  • documentation of language proficiency
 

Select either:

  • key scientific pieces of work, up to ten. The doctoral thesis is considered one piece of work.

Or:

  • scientific pieces of work (published and unpublished) which the applicant wants to be considered in the assessment.
 

Include text about moderate gender quotas if the percentage of women in the position group at the unit is below 40%.

Fill in the other necessary information in the order form and send it for approval according to the unit’s internal procedures.

Researcher

What is your role in the process?

When the draft is completed, the Recruitment Services will send the case to the Appointment Committee for approval of the announcement text. If the case is approved, the Recruitment Services announces the position and notifies when this is done.

Stipulate clear qualification requirements: required qualifications, desired qualifications and personal qualities. Qualification requirements - academic positions
Describe language requirements and how these should be documented. If there is a requirement regarding Norwegian/Scandinavian language, assess whether it is a must-have requirement or should-have requirement.

Describe where the position is geographically located.  

Select one of the following options:

  • Vision statement: the applicant must submit a vision statement comprising of X pages/words that explains how they will strengthen the research activities at the department/research group/research project.
  • Project description: the applicant must submit a project description describing their contribution to the project and the basis for the work. 
  • Description of previous research projects: the applicant must submit a description of the previous research project(s) and relevance to the announced position.
 
Who should be the contact persons in the announcement text?
